Switching Doctors

If you have a difficult time working with your doctor or if you feel that he/she is not providing you with the time, understanding or treatment options you should bring those areas of concern up with him or her.  If you feel like your doctor persists in not providing the service that you need in a manner that you are comfortable with, you may want to consider switching doctors.  You don’t need to feel obligated to stay with a doctor whom you don’t like, or whom you feel does not like you.  Doctors lose and gain patients all the time.  It’s part of their profession and they should not take it personally.  A good doctor will be most concerned for their patients’ health and if you are better served by seeing another doctor he or she should understand.  When you select another doctor you should ask your previous doctor’s office to transfer your files or make a copy of your file and either send it to your new physician or give it to you to take to your new doctor.  There may be a small charge for copying but most offices will provide or transfer your files free of charge.
